Loose change sometimes becomes a thing to be forgotten, more of a hindrance rather than something to be used. However change, like quarters can be essential to those who don’t own a washing machine. That makes saving change important; clean socks. Most American Laundromats only take quarters; this makes quarters more intrinsically valuable. Change can still be used in so many areas that cash can’t, thus making change more desirable and more valuable than most people think.
Saving loose change is something that may seem tedious at times, but in the long run the value of the change increases with each tinkling of the jar. Saving change is another outlet to saving because change is inconvenient. This makes it easier to save and harder to spend. Instead of spending your change, designate four jars for pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters. If that is ambitious; if it’s a long term goal you are saving for, place a picture of your goal near your change jars to motivate you to save. The current picture is a new car.
Here is a list (in case you forgot) of all the great places and objects that take loose change and make saving change important.
