Interview with Phantasmix

What influenced you to start Phantasmix?
I started a blog in 2004. Initially I wrote about health and personal care, but in 2005 I became interested in stocks and in 2007 decided to change the blog’s focus to trading, investing and frugality.
-
What is your favorite financial topic to blog about?
Hands down, stocks and options but like I always say, nothing is ever off-topic on my blog and I like to intersperse chart posts with general commentary and sometimes share humorous links, cartoons and videos.
-
Do you find you are learning a lot more about finances by blogging about it?
Yes, of course. As they say, to teach is to learn twice. Blogging makes me express my thoughts more coherently (at least I try!) and in the process of writing I often stumble upon answers that weren’t clearly obvious.
-
Do life experiences play a key part in the content of your blogs?
Yes, I like to refer to various anecdotes from my life and past personal experiences.
-
Which of your blogs is a “must-read”?
I have blogs on topics ranging from Investing Psychology to Frugality to Business Taxes. I don’t think I have one defining blog that will change the reader’s life, so I’d suggest browsing various categories of interest to the reader.
I haven’t posted much in “Productivity” but it’s my favorite

What is some financial advice you could offer our readers?
If you decide to trade stocks and especially options, only trade with risk capital (that is be prepared to lose 100%). And before learning strategies and technical analysis, learn risk management and psychology.
