Apache CP (APA) – A Heated, Oily Platform

Apache, an oil and gas company, had a critical fire happen early Wednesday, January 13th; morning. Three employees for Island Operating, were working that morning in the Gulf of Mexico. All were affected by the fire, one died, Frank Richard, 34; and the other two are still in the hospital. The company commented in a statement that the fire was aboard its East Cameron 2 processing platform, about 2 miles off the coast of Louisiana’s Cameron Parish. The wells that run to this processing platform are located in Houston, Texas  were closed off; but no reasons why the fire started have been given. The environmental damages are minimal, but the company finds it imperative to repair these areas, once this is done investigation as to why the fire started will be next.

This processing platform totals roughly 850 barrels of oil and 7.7 million cubic feet of gas per day.
